About Jordan

Hi! I’m Jordan. I live in Stockport with my partner, our 2 children & our 2 Dachshund’s Peggy & Winnie. I breastfed my daughter until she was 12 months old & I am currently breastfeeding my son. Therefore, I have first-hand experience.

I’m originally from the London Borough of Bexley, where I was brought up within a very large and loving family. I went to university to study Adult Nursing (2008) and finished in 2011 armed with my Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree. Studying whilst on the job I gained a huge variety of skills. My first job as a registered nurse was in A&E of St Thomas’ Hospital, Westminster, London. I stayed for 14 months before realising that my interest was to focus on helping babies, in Newborn Intensive Care (NICU). Since then I’ve been helping mothers & their babies for over a decade.

I landed my first job in NICU at King’s College Hospital, Denmark Hill, London. I worked alongside a lactation consultant there for 6 years- she inspired me more than she will ever know. She showed me how to care for babies with the most complex feeding issues, I am forever grateful to her. I will never forget the families we helped together- my passion for helping breastfeeding mothers grew from there. At King’s College Hospital I was funded to complete my qualified in speciality training, this included a postgraduate course in special care baby unit (SCBU) nursing, neonatal high dependency (HDU) nursing, neonatal intensive care (NICU) nursing and finally, nursing mentorship. I was then promoted to Jr Sister where I continued to love my career in NICU.

My partner and I decided to move to Manchester in 2018 (he’s a northerner). I continued my career in NICU at St Mary’s Hospital, Oxford Road, Manchester. I was soon promoted to Senior Sister and Shift Coordinator of the largest tertiary, surgical, NICU in the UK where I currently still work.

I have regular training in advanced neonatal life support as well as other annual education updates through my NHS job.

In 2023 I completed an extensive post-graduate diploma in breastfeeding and human lactation with The Centre for Breastfeeding Education and Research, which prepared me to sit the IBCLC exam in April 2024. I passed this exam and am on the official register of IBCLCs – https://lcgb.org
